What Happened When Sports Went Dark?
The spring and early summer of 2020 were unprecedented in sports history. In a single week, nearly every sport and league in the United States was shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. By March 19, professional sports across the country as well as the NCAA had gone dark. Fans, players, league officials, staff and sports experts could only guess as to what was ahead for the one thing that simultaneously brings people together and squares them off: sports.

Two years ago today, the Supreme Court struck down PASPA, the 1992 act that effectively outlawed sports betting in the U.S., with a few exceptions. Since that decision two years ago, states have been able to make their own sports betting laws and so far, 20 states and territories have legalized sports betting with many more bills working their way through state legislatures.
